Known as the national card game of the United States, Poker is a game of skill and chance. It is played in private homes, casinos, and poker clubs. It is a popular worldwide pastime.<\/p>\n
A hand in Poker is made up of five cards. These can be any combination of two or more of the following: Aces, kings, queens, jacks, and tens. Some hands are more valuable than others. The lowest possible hand is a 7-5-4-3-2 in two or more suits.<\/p>\n
The player with the highest hand wins the pot. The pot is the aggregate of all bets placed by all players during the deal. This pot can be won by making a bet that no other player calls.<\/p>\n
In most variants, a player must make at least one bet before the first draw. A bet can be made as a forced bet, a blind bet, or a call. The player who makes the first bet is the “dealer.” He has the last right to shuffle the deck.<\/p>\n
The dealer may also offer the shuffled pack to the opponent. If no opponent calls the bet, the player is said to “fold” and the pot is collected by the remaining player. The first bettor has the obligation to make a bet, but he can check in later betting intervals.<\/p>\n
